Intermediate Level Students - Child/Adolescent
As with the beginner level, intermediate students are difficult to categorise. Students of this level should be performing at approximately a grade 2-5 (primary school) level of English.
Intermediate ESL students could potentially produce a broader range of language including transitive verbs and be able to understand commands and direct people. language and be able to understand minimal English to make commands or direct people. Their written English would be quite limited and may only include the alphabet (a,b,c,d) and very few words.
Sight words would be easily understood and able to be written. Reading, speaking and listening would also be more advanced that a beginner level. The foundation of English is being broadened in this phase of learning.
Students can range from having an intermediate level of English experience (mostly at school) to students who can communicate in English with fluency about events, themes and topics related to their personal experiences. Spoken and written language is probably stronger than any other components in this phase of learning.
